Man Sentenced In Death Of CONTORTION/PROLIFIC Member

According to The Press-Enterprise, a San Bernardino man was sentenced on Friday (July 24) to nearly 60 years in prison for murdering a member of the California heavy metal bands CONTORTION (MySpace) and PROLIFIC (MySpace) with his car battery.

Kevin Harville had been convicted November 21 by a jury for an October 24, 2006, crime in which he chased his ex-girlfriend, Rolanda Hill, in his vehicle on Interstate 215 in San Bernardino before sideswiping her sport utility vehicle, according to court testimony.

During the chase, he lost control of his SUV, which jumped the center divider. The vehicle's battery flew out and smashed through the windshield of an oncoming driver, killing him. Shawn Kettlewell, 30, had been heading north near Mill Street when the battery struck him in the head.

Kettlewell played bass guitar in the local heavy metal band CONTORTION and formed another group in 2005 called PROLIFIC, which opened for the San Francisco-based black metal band DRAGONLORD in Riverside in 2006.
